Made in China Toys

With the current massive scare on China-made products, I wonder:

Is it safe to give to my nephews the toys I bought from Jollibee and McDonald's (through their Kiddie/Happy Meals)? The toys these fast food chains give out are made in China. So I am worried it might not be wise to give them to my nephews. What do you think?

I guess, my question is: Can we rely upon these companies (Jollibee and McDo) to ensure that the toys they give out are safe?

I beg to disagree, though.

News reports just this morning show that melamine (the unscrupulous Chinese manufacturers deliberately put on their infant formulas) have also found their way on other food products.

And more than that, recent tests on toys imported from China have been found to contain lead — another toxic substance.

While I wish you to be right for the consumers' sake, news reports and test findings say otherwise. In fact, news report say that the problem seems much more widespread than we initially thought.

Given these findings, my stand is NO TO CHINA-MADE products. I'm not going to compromise my loved ones' health for a few pesos saved.

In some ways I am both yin and yang. I can be calm as the sunset, and fiery as the noontime sun. I can be both reckless and careful, passionate and disinterested, simple and complicated.

Excellence and elegance are my trademarks. I work not just with my hand, but also with my heart and mind. Over big and minuscule details I slave, until the two qualities I so admire — unique and outstanding — are embodied in my creation.

My family and the love that I have are my greatest treasures; whereas my biggest assets are the contents of my heart — the love that flows out of it, the warmth that emanates from it, and the peace that resides in it.

My greatest aspiration is to live a life that’s full and with very few regrets. Meaningless schemes and pathetic pursuits have no place in my daily itinerary. I believe that there is a Great Being that guides us through every step of the way, although the decision about whether we take a step or not, and which direction to take is left to us.
